The Tiger rowing team will play host to four schools in the Clemson Challenge regatta held on Lake Hartwell Saturday morning. Clemson will compete against Buffalo, Indiana, Marist, and Purdue in the event. All four schools have been training at Clemson during their spring break. The event has been designated as a Solid Orange event, as well as Clemson rowing’s parents and alumni weekend.
The event will kickoff with Clemson dedicating its newest 8+ racing shell Saturday morning at 8:45 AM. Five women’s events and five men’s events are scheduled. The men from Purdue and Marist are in Clemson training during spring break, and the two schools will be going head-to-head.
Clemson opened the spring season two weeks ago on March 5 with a convincing performance against Eastern Michigan at home. The Tigers won five events over the Eagles, with EMU finishing ahead of just one Clemson boat the entire day. The Tigers held a scrimmage last Saturday with Georgetown, with the two schools competing in two flights of races in 1,500 meter pieces.
Saturday’s regatta will feature the varsity 8+, second varsity 8+, novice 8+, second novice 8+, and varsity 4+ races. The first race of the day will begin at 9:00 AM, as the five schools will compete in the novice 8+. Clemson’s entire schedule of events is posted below.
