Raleigh, N.C. – The Clemson Tigers placed third in four out of their five races in the preliminary round of the 2023 ACC Championship on Friday, May 12 on Lake Wheeler in Raleigh, N.C.
“We have four of five boats through to the Grand Finals and are looking forward to some great racing tomorrow” said Head Coach Stephen Frazier Wong. “Our Varsity Four had some injury issues and they fought bravely to try to qualify but just missed out.”
Starting with the three varsity eights at 8:05 a.m, Clemson finished third with a 7:00.674 time. Next, the Tigers raced in the 1v8’s and 2v8’s where it finished third in both with a 6:41.016 and 6:51.124 time respectively. The preliminary round then finished with the 1v4 and 2v4 races. The Tigers would finish fourth in the 1v4 race at 7:40.845 and earn third in the 2v4 at 7:39.217.
Tomorrow, Clemson’s 1v8, 2v8, 3v8 and 2v4 will compete in the grand finals of the ACC Championship, beginning with the three varsity eights at 8:15 a.m. and ending with the one varsity eights at 9:55 a.m. The Tigers will be in lane six for all four races.
