Clemson Falls to No. 7 Princeton in Battle of Tigers

CLEMSON, S.C. – The women’s rowing team fell in all four races against seventh-ranked Princeton in Princeton, N.J., on Saturday morning.

“I am really proud of the fight in our team today,” head coach Robbie Tenenbaum said. “We have two weeks to prepare for our ACC championships and we are excited to welcome our conference to Clemson on May 16 and 17.”

The opening race of the day saw the Third Varsity 8+ fall short of Princeton. The First Varsity 4+ then finished second out of four crews in the second race. It was the second straight second-place finish for the 1V4. It topped UCLA to finish second in their previous race at the Clemson Invite.

The final two races saw Princeton close out the sweep with wins in both the Second Varsity 8+ and First Varsity 8+ races. The Princeton 1V8 set the course record with their time of 6:06.8, ahead of the Tigers’ season-best 1V8 time of 6:20.0

It was just the second head-to-head matchup this season in which Clemson failed to win a race. The Tigers were also edged in four races against No. 6 Southern Cal earlier this season.

Clemson returns to action on May 16-17 when they host the ACC Championships on Lake Hartwell.
