Clemson Defeats Gardner-Webb In Men’s Soccer, 6-0

CLEMSON, S.C. — Steven Rhyne scored two goals and had one assist in leading Clemson to a 6-0 win over Gardner-Webb in a men’s intercollegiate soccer match at Clemson, SC Wednesday night.

With the win, Clemson improves to 11-3 overall, while Gardner-Webb falls to 4-12 this season. The Tigers are ranked eighth in the latest Soccer America poll and ninth in the lastest NSCAA poll. In the soccertimes.com poll, the Tigers are ranked 10th.

Clemson’s Fabio Tambosi had three assists in tonight’s match. The three assists is tied for sixth in Clemson history for most assists in a single match. Ian Fuller had one goal and two assists, while Paul Souders and Eric Lewis both had one goal and one assist each.

Rhyne, a sophomore forward from Alpharetta, GA now has six goals and six assists this season.

Clemson will play host to Maryland in an Atlantic Coast Conference match Sunday afternoon at 2:00 p.m. in the Tigers’ next action.

“We had a nice, crisp performance tonight,” said Clemson Head Coach Trevor Adair. “We have four straight ACC matches coming up, we have no easy games in this stretch. Overall, I was pleased with the way we played. We played hard and we pressed hard. Ian Fuller continues to play well and Fabio Tambosi played great with three assists.”
