CLEMSON, S.C. – Cate Schrieber has been named a 2021 Pocock Second Team All-American, the first Tiger to do so since 2014. Schrieber competed in every regatta in the 1V8+ boat.
With the help of Schrieber, the Tigers won the 1V8+ race and picked up 36 of Clemson’s 81 points to outlast North Carolina and Oklahoma in a home regatta.
Schreiber continued to impress as she helped the 1V8+ boat to second place finishes in both days of competition during the Sunshine State Invitational.
Schreiber finished her senior campaign strong as she rowed in the 1V8+ shell in the ACC Championships and helped lead the Tigers to a second and fourth place finish on Lake Hartwell. The Tigers also qualified for grand finals in every race in the second day of ACC championships.
“Cate was the strongest rower on a team that battled through the adversity of COVID shut downs and socially distant practices to earn our highest placement in the ACC in five years,” Coach Wong explains. “Cate’s confidence and performance under pressure inspired her teammates every day; they even voted her as the MVP of the 2020-2021 season. I know that her entire team is proud of Cate receiving this national honor, and I am elated that her stelar career here at Clemson has culminated with this recognition.”
