CLEMSON, S.C. – The No. 45 Clemson women’s tennis team (11-2, 1-1 ACC) continues its slate of road ACC matches this weekend as it travels to take on No. 29 Wake Forest (8-5, 0-1 ACC) on Friday and No. 4 NC State (7-1, 1-0 ACC) on Sunday. First serve in Winston-Salem is set for 5 p.m. and first serve in Raleigh is at noon.
Clemson is coming off a 1-1 weekend in which it defeated Louisville 4-3 to open up conference play. The Tigers then lost a closely contested battle to then No. 17 Notre Dame by a score of 4-1. Clemson leads Wake Forest 32-22 all time, but Wake has won each of the last four matchups. The Tigers lead the Wolfpack 44-10, but NC State holds a four-match win streak in the series heading into Sunday’s match.
Clemson is off to an incredible start to the 2023 season, as the team earned its first win over rival South Carolina since 2015 and got off to its first 11-1 start since 1986. Cristina Mayorova has been sensational to start the season, boasting a 11-2 singles record playing primarily from Court 2. Sophia Hatton is a perfect 8-0 in dual matches, earning wins on Courts 3, 4, 5 and 6.
The Tigers have been consistent across the board, going 56-10 in singles play in dual matches this season. Clemson also holds a 24-12 doubles record thus far in 2023.
