Clemsontigers.com – The Clemson Women’s Tennis team (11-9, 2-7 ACC) fell to No. 36 Notre Dame (13-6, 4-4 ACC) 4-1 on Saturday, March 30.
“We fought hard today,” Head Coach Boomer Saia said. “After dropping the doubles, we responded really well, taking 4 first sets. We needed to start some of our 3rd sets a little better, but we showed good responses in the face of adversity today.”
In doubles, the Tigers battled hard but lost the point to Notre Dame after courts three and one fell.
In singles, multiple Tigers won their first set. Daniella Medvedeva swiftly won on court three, 6-0. Following Medvedeva, Eleni Louka won her first set 6-4 against No. 28 ranked singles player Julia Andreach. Alina Tsyurpalevych took her first set 6-4 against Akari Matsuno.
Following the three other Tigers, Sophia Hatton won both of her sets 7-5, 6-1, and defeated Yashna Yellayi to claim the first point of the day.
Jenna Thompson fell to Nibi Ghosh 6-2, 7-5 shortly after. After Thompson fell, Eleni Louka battled hard against No. 28 Andreach. The match went to three sets, with Louka falling 6-0 in the second set and 6-3 in the last. The Tigers fought hard.
Next, the Tigers are headed to Georgia Tech on Friday, April 5, at 4 p.m.
