CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson Women’s Tennis team (11-11, 2-9 ACC) fell to No. 36 Wake Forest (15-11, 6-6 ACC) 4-1 on Friday, April 12 at the Duckworth Family Tennis Facility.
In doubles, the Tigers outlasted the Demon Deacons and won the doubles point. On court one, Thompson and Louka battled hard against the 82nd-ranked duo from Wake Forest but fell short 6-3 to Killingsworth and Cruz.
Mayorova and Van Zyl fought hard to secure the Tigers’ victory 6-3 over Blanch and Wooten. In heroic fashion, Hatton and Tsyurpalevych secured the Tigers’ point with a 6-4 victory over Ahmad and Gownder of Wake Forest.
In singles, the Tigers worked hard against the Demon Deacons but ultimately fell on courts 1, 2, 3, and 6.
Sofia Hatton had a bright spot on the day. She battled in her first set against Sankavi Gownder of Wake Forest but fell 6-2. Hatton returned to a commanding 6-1 victory in her second set. Ultimately, Wake Forest sealed victory over the Tigers before Hatton could finish her game.
Next, The Tigers will take on No. 12 N.C. State on Sunday, April 14, at 12 p.m. at the Duckworth Family Tennis Facility.
