Women?s Tennis to Compete at Furman Fall Classic

CLEMSON, SC – Four members of the Clemson women’s tennis team will open play this weekend at the Furman Fall Classic in Greenville, SC. Play begins on Friday and goes through Sunday. The flighted tournament includes the Tigers, Alabama, Florida State, Furman, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. There will be no team champion, just champions for each of the five singles and three doubles flights. The tournament features six teams that were ranked in the top-40 in the ITA’s final poll, and also has 11 ranked singles players and five ranked doubles teams. Three Tigers will be making their Clemson debuts in the tournament. Yana Koroleva will play in the flight one singles draw, and will take on the nation’s No. 11 player, Mary Anne Macfarlane of Alabama. Freshman Tristen Dewar will play No. 71 Caroline Price of North Carolina in flight three singles, and Ani Miao will play Alex MArtin of South Carolina in flight four. Romy Koelzer, who won 16 matches for the Tigers as a freshman last season, will play Kayla McMurray of Tennessee in flight five singles.
