Women’s Tennis To Begin Play At Wilson/ITA Southeast Regionals

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson women’s tennis team is set to begin play at the Wilson/ITA Southeast Regional Championships on Thursday, Oct. 18. The event will be held at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center on the campus of the University of North Carolina in Chapel Hill, NC.

The qualifying singles and first round of the main draw of doubles competition will be held on Thursday, while the singles main draw is scheduled to begin on Friday.

Kathryn Gerber and Samantha Eppelsheimer will open play in the qualifying round, as Gerber will face Louisville’s Lindsey Jones and Eppelsheimer will play Valerie Behr of UNC-Greensboro.

Samantha Eppelsheimer will take on Winthrop’s team of Paty Coimbra and Lisa Wilkinson on Thursday at 4:00 pm, while Clemson’s Ina Hadziselimovic and Alexandra Luc are scheduled to face Jenna Loeb and Katarina Reveche of Wake Forest at 3:30 pm on Thursday.

In the main draw of the singles bracket, Balda is seeded fourth, while Salge and Van Adrichem earned 9-16 seeds. Salge will open against Ana Spivakovsky of Charlotte on Friday afternoon, while Hadizelimovic will face Gardner-Webb’s Laura Kriett earlier that morning. Luc is slated to play Yevgenia Stupak of East Tennessee State in her first-round match-up, while Balda, Van Adrichem and Henry will each face players from the qualifying round.

In last year’s event, Mijacika and Salge each reached the quarterfinals of the singles competition and teamed to advance to the finals of the doubles bracket.
