Women’s Tennis Moves Up To #7 In Latest Fila/ITA Tennis Poll

CLEMSON, SC – With two road wins over ACC opponents last week, the Clemson women’s tennis team moved up one position to #7 in the Fila/ITA Tennis poll released on Tuesday, Mar. 13. The Tigers posted victories over Boston College and Maryland to better their overall record to 11-2 with a 3-0 mark against conference foes. Clemson has now been ranked in the top-25 for 15 consecutive weeks, dating back to the March 28 poll of the 2006 season.

The Tigers’ two losses this year have come to currently ranked #1 Georgia and #2 Notre Dame.

Clemson is one of seven ACC teams listed among the top 25 and one of four ranked in the top 10. Georgia Tech, whom the Tigers defeated on Mar. 3, leads the group at #6 while Miami is listed eighth and North Carolina is ranked 10th. Florida State then entered the polls this week at #13. Wake Forest is listed 18th and Duke ranks 23rd.

The Tigers will face Troy University at the Family Circle Cup Tennis Center on Daniel Island on Sunday, Mar. 18 before returning to the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center and conference action against Florida State on Mar. 23.
