CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson women’s tennis team has been selected to participate in the 2007 USTA/ITA National Team Indoor Championships to be held on Feb. 1-4 in Madison, WI. The University of Wisconsin will again host the annual tournament, which features 16 of the top teams in the nation.
The Tigers competed at the 2005 event where they defeated fourth-ranked UCLA for one of the program’s top wins in history. Clemson also won a forfeited match by Tulane while falling to Kentucky that year.
This year’s field of 16 includes four ACC teams, the most of any other conference, with Georgia Tech, North Carolina and 2006 national runner-up Miami also earning invitations. Baylor, Brigham Young, California, Northwestern, Notre Dame, Pepperdine, three-time defending champion Stanford, TCU, UCLA, Vanderbilt, Virginia Commonwealth and Wisconsin make up the remaining 12 teams.
