The Clemson women’s soccer team will open play in the NCAA Tournament on Friday evening at 5:00 p.m. The Lady Tigers will play Richmond at Charlotte, NC in the opening round. The winner of the Clemson-Richmond match will play the winner of the UNC-Charlotte-James Madison match on Sunday afternoon at 1:00 p.m.
Clemson is 14-7 on the year. The Lady Tigers finished the season 4-3 in the ACC. Clemson is ranked 14th by Soccer America and 15th by the NSCAA. In the soccertimes.com poll, the Lady Tigers are ranked 18th. Clemson is ranked 16th by soccerbuzz.com.
The Lady Tigers’ Deliah Arrington was named the ACC Player-of-the-Year as announced by the league’s office Thursday, November 7. Arrington is the first Clemson women’s player to receive this award. This season, she has 18 goals and has seven assists for 43 points. She also has five winning goals this season.
Four Clemson women’s soccer players were named All-Atlantic Coast Conference as selected by the league’s head coaches. Deliah Arrington and Heather Beem were named to the first team and Paige Ledford was named to the second team. Allison Graham was named to the ACC All-Freshman team.
This will be the fifth meeting between Clemson and Richmond on the Soccer field. The Lady Tigers lead the overall series 3-1-0. Deliah Arrington leads the team in scoring with 18 goals and seven assists for 43 points. Heather Beem has 11 goals and seven assists for 29 points. Clemson has a 8-7-2 record in the NCAA Tournament since Clemson first fielded a women’s soccer team in 1994.
