Women’s Soccer Team Opens NCAA Play This Weekend

CLEMSON, S.C. — The Clemson women’s soccer team will play host to Marquette Saturday night at 7:00 p.m. in the second round of the NCAA Women’s Soccer Tournament at Historic Riggs Field.

The Lady Tigers are seeded seventh in the tournament and received a first-round bye. Clemson has a 13-6-1 record overall and a 4-3 mark in the ACC.

Marquette defeated Missouri 3-2 in overtime on Wednesday November 10 in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

Freshman Deliah Arrington leads the Lady Tigers in scoring with nine goals and seven assists for 25 points. Beth Keller has eight goals and seven assists for 23 points.

Marquette is led in scoring by Kelly Roethe with 13 goals and seven assists for 33 points. Marquette has a 16-6-2 record overall.

Clemson is ranked eighth according to the NSCAA poll and ninth in the Soccer America poll as of November 8.

Beth Keller and Nancy Augustyniak were named first team All-ACC, while Julie Augustyniak was named second-team All-ACC.

This is the sixth straight season Clemson has been invited to the NCAA Tournament. This is also only the sixth season that Clemson has fielded a women’s soccer team.

News
