WOMEN’S SOCCER FINAL || Clemson 3, Pitt 2

Mackin, Hershfelt Shine on Senior Day

In a day set to honor Clemson’s six seniors, Julie Mackin netted two goals to lead the No. 15 Tigers to a 3-2 victory over the Pitt Panthers. The victory would mark Clemson’s 10th win of the year as they move to 10-5-1, 4-5 ACC with one regular season match remaining.

Despite Pitt rallying with two goals in the second half to force overtime, the Tigers wasted no time to seal the deal with freshman Hal Hershfelt powering home the game-winner in the second minute of overtime. Conti would pick up the assist on the game-winning goal, giving her two assists on the afternoon and moving her season points total to six.

Quotes from Coach Eddie Radwanski

“Winning is hard and you can’t take it for granted. Heading into overtime we talked about trusting what we do and believing in what it is you’re going to do and we ended up scoring a great goal there. Games like these you have to deal with adversity and challenges but we can grow from that. Overall, a great team win today.”

Up Next for the Tigers

The Tigers return to the pitch on October 31 as they close out their regular season on the road against Boston College in a 7 p.m. game live on ACCNX.
