UNIVERSITY OF RICHMOND, Va. — Clemson freshman forward Lindsay Browne scored at the 43:56 mark to pace the No. 2-ranked Tigers to a 1-0 decision over Richmond in women’s soccer action today at UR Soccer Complex. The Tigers remain unbeaten at 12-0-0 overall and continue to perform well in close matches, raising their record to 8-0-0 in one-goal decisions this year. The Spiders, meanwhile, see their four-match winning streak end and drop to 6-3-0 on the season.
On the decisive goal, Tiger sophomore back Cindy Mullinix played a corner kick into the penalty area. The ball came loose on the right side of box where Brown chipped home a shot into the back of the net from five yards away just 1:04 prior to intermission. Clemson used the speed of its forwards and midfield corps to outshoot Richmond, 22-11. Clemson’s next match will be against Duke in Durham, NC next Saturday night at 7:00 pm.
