White Takes Down Orange in Swimming and Diving Meet

The Clemson men’s and women’s swimming and diving teams held their annual Orange and White meet on Friday afternoon at McHugh Natatorium, with the White team taking down the Orange group 235-189. On the men’s side, white won ten of 12 races on the day, while the women’s side was much closer, with Orange actually nipping White 112-110.

Head Coach Christopher Ip explained, “We are excited to get back in the water in a competitive atmosphere. This meet serves as a good benchmark for where we are and where we need to improve. We are excited for the start of a new season and look forward to welcoming Davidson in on October fourth.”

The White team’s Michelle Parkhurst picked up wins in the 200 free, 100 back, and a second place finish in the medley relay. On the men’s side, Dan Mengering won the 50 free, 200 free, and a first place finish with the 400 free relay group. Matt Angelini also picked up a trio of wins in the 100 fly, 200 IM, and the 400 free relay.

For Orange, Rachel Regone won all three events in which she competed, the 50 free, the 100 free, and the 400 free relay.

Junior Stephanie Fura took the one-meter title for the White team, while freshman Brooke George won the 3-meter event for Orange. David Giambra took both diving wins for the White team.

Other freshman victories included Will Clark in the 500 free, Chris Dart in the 100 breast, and Maddie Tarantolo in the 100 fly.

The Tigers will begin their dual meet season on Saturday, October 4 at 1:00pm against Davidson at McHugh Natatorium.
