PREVIEW

  • The Clemson Tigers will open the 2021-22 campaign at home, welcoming Upstate (0-0) on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. ET contest at Littlejohn Coliseum in Clemson. The game can be seen live on ACCNX and head on the Clemson Athletic Network.
  • This will be just the second meeting all-time between the Tigers and Upstate, with Clemson winning the first meeting 78-65 back on Dec. 15, 2009.
  • The game against the Spartans marks the first of three games in a week for the Tigers, continuing with a home game on Sunday vs. Columbia and then getting on the road for a top-25 match-up next Wednesday, Nov. 17 vs. No. 1/1 South Carolina.
  • Coach Butler is beginning her 4th season with the Tigers is 3-0 in season and home openers as the head coach. This will also be her first meeting against Upstate in her 16 years as a head coach at Florida and Charlotte.
  • Upstate will bring back four starters from a year ago, and they are led by Denijha Wilson, who averaged 12.5 ppg, 54 assists, and 28 steals.
  • The Tigers welcome back three starters from a season ago, including graduate Delicia Washington who earned preseason All-ACC honors and ended the 2020-21 season being named Second Team All-ACC, WNIT All-Region, and led the Tigers in scoring and assists.
  • Clemson will also add graduate transfers Kiara Lewis (Syracuse) and LaTrese Saine (SEMO) and junior college transfer Daisha Bradford, who will immediately impact. Lewis was a First-Team All-ACC selection in 2019-20 and an honorable mention selection last season at Syracuse.
  • Saine was the 2020-21 OVC Defensive Player of the Year and became the all-time blocks leader at SEMO her senior year.
  • Bradford was an NCJAA First Team All-American, First Team All-NACCC, and unanimous MACCC South Division MVP during the 2020-21 season. She led Jones in scoring (17.3 ppg), rebounding (7.0 rpg), assists (95), and steals (60).
  • The Tigers will also add five-star guard Kionna Gaines and four other newcomers to the 2021-22 team – Eno Inyang, Makayla Elmore, Sydney Standifer, and Madi Ott.

  • Fred Cunningham (play-by-play) and Coach Jim Davis (analyst) will be on the call of the ACC Network Extra broadcast.
  • All of the games included in the ESPN package (ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ACCN, ACCNX) will be available through ESPN, accessible online at WatchESPN.com, on smartphones and tablets via the ESPN app, and streamed on televisions through Amazon Fire TV, Apple TV, Chromecast, Roku, Xbox 360 or Xbox One to fans who receive their video subscriptions from an affiliated provider.
  • The contest can also be heard on the Clemson Athletic Network radio stations and audio stream, with William Qualkinbush and Sarah-Jo Lawrence calling the action.
  • Airtime for games on the Clemson Athletic Network generally occurs 30 minutes before tipoff.

GAMEDAY OPERATIONS

  • If you are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19, please stay at home.
  • Parking lots open two hours before tipoff.
  • The seating bowls will be at 100% capacity.
  • The clear bag policy is in effect. Fans are reminded to keep phones and keys in their pockets as they proceed through the metal detectors.
  • For the general public, face coverings are recommended but not required in all areas of Littlejohn Coliseum.
  • Fans should be considerate of others and utilize proper cheering etiquette. Screaming, hugging, and high-fiving may not be welcomed in physical interactions amongst strangers this season. Guests should be aware of their surroundings and the safety of others.
