Volleyball Team To Play Host To Clemson Invitational This Weekend

CLEMSON, SC – The Clemson volleyball team will play host to the Clemson Invitational tournament this weekend. Match play is scheduled to begin at 9:00 AM Friday with the final day one match at 8:00 PM, as Clemson and Northern Iowa take to the court. On Saturday, the tournament resumes at 9:00 AM with a match featuring Clemson and The Citadel. Saturday’s match play will conclude with a 7:00 PM match between Winthrop and Western Carolina. All matches will be played in Jervey Gym on Clemson’s campus and admission is free to the public.

Clemson enters the tournament with a 1-0 record, after defeating Western Carolina by a score of 3-0 on Wednesday night. The Tigers will have a rematch with the Catamounts (0-1) on Friday at 2:00 PM, then face off against #21 Northern Iowa at 8:00 PM. Clemson and Northern Iowa have never met on the volleyball court before and this will be the Panthers’ season opener. On Saturday, the Tigers will face The Citadel Bulldogs at 9:00 AM. This will be the first meeting between Clemson and The Citadel and will also be the Bulldogs’ season opener. In Clemson’s second match of the day, the Tigers will play the Winthrop Eagles (1-0) at 1:00 PM. The Eagles defeated Davidson in their season opener on Wednesday night. Clemson holds an 18-12 advantage in the all-time series between the teams.
