Virginia defeats Clemson

CLEMSON, SC–Sarah Curtis scored her fifth goal of the season in leading 12th-ranked Virginia to a 1-0 win over Clemson in a women’s Atlantic Coast Conference soccer match at Clemson, SC Sunday afternoon.

With the win, Virginia improves to 8-4-2 overall and 3-1-1 in the ACC. Clemson falls to 6-6-1 overall and 1-3-1 in league play.

Curtis scored the goal at the 67:14 mark in the match. She was assisted by Caitlin Miskel and Jen Redmond.

Virginia out shot the Lady Tigers 19-5. Clemson’s goalkeeper Ashley Phillips made six saves.

“We are very discouraged at this time,” said Clemson Head Coach Ashley Phillips played well and kept us in the match.”

Clemson will play at Miami in an ACC match on Wednesday, October 11, in the Lady Tigers’ next action.
