UConn Shuts Out Clemson 3-0 In Exhibition Game

Storrs, Conn. – The University of Connecticut men’s soccer team converted Clemson’s physical play into two first half penalty kick goals en route to an easy 3-0 victory on Saturday afternoon. The contest, the final preseason tuneup for the Huskies, was played at Morrone Stadium in Storrs before a crowd of 1,464.

Junior Chris Gbandi (Houston, TX) converted both penalty kicks for the Huskies, beating Clemson goalie Doug Warren first left and then right. The first tally was scored at the 15:43 mark after Gbandi was taken down in the Clemson box and the second after a Tiger handball. The lone second half goal was scored by junior Mansour Ndiaye (New York, NY) on a 45 yard volley that nicked the crossbar and fell past Warren into the Clemson net.

Clemson will play its first regular season game on Sunday, September 3 against Hartford in the Bi-Lo Kickoff Classic beginning at 2 p.m. at Historic Riggs Field.
