Clemson golfers D.J. Trahan and Brent Delahoussaye were two of nine players who advanced from local US Open qualifying at Piper Glen Country Club on Tuesday. Both will advance to sectional qualifying and compete in early June at a site to be determined. The US Open will be held at Olympia Fields Country Club in Olympia Fields, IL Chicago June 12-16.
Delahoussaye, a junior who is red-shirting this season, had a 67 for his 18 holes at Piper Glen. His score was second only to medallist Jeremy Revis, who had a 65. Trahan shot a 70 to make the cut by a shot. Delahoussaye, Trahan and Revis were the only three amateurs to advance.
Former Clemson All-American Joey Maxon shot a 71 on Tuesday and is one of the alternates for sectional play.
Trahan will begin play for the Tigers in the NCAA East Regional on Thursday at the University Course in Auburn, AL.
