BOSTON, MASS. – The Clemson rowing team will begin their fall season this weekend with the annual Head of the Charles regatta. The race, held in Boston, Mass., is the largest two-day regatta in the world. The Tiger 1st Varsity 4+ will race at 1:38 p.m. on Saturday while the 1st Varsity 8+ will race at 2:18 p.m. on Sunday.
This will be the third consecutive year that the Tigers compete in the race. Last season, Clemson rowed to a pair of strong finishes. The 1st Varsity 4+ finished 2nd out of 45 boats with a time of 18:42.774 while the 1st Varsity 8+ came in 11th place out of 39 boats with a time of 17:13.356. The two results tied for the highest finishes in Clemson history at the event. The 1V4 finished second in 2008 while the 1V8 finished 11th in 2007 and 2008.
This regatta will be the first for Head Coach Stephen Frazier Wong at the helm of the Tigers.
