Tigers to face number one Maryland Friday at Clemson.

CLEMSON, SC–The Clemson Men’s Soccer Team will play host to number-one ranked Maryland Friday night at 7:00 p.m. at Historic Riggs Field.

Clemson is ranked in the top six of the four college soccer polls while the Terrapins are ranked number one by three rankings. Clemson ranked is fourth by the NSCAA and fifth by Soccer America in men’s soccer polls released Tuesday. The Tigers are also ranked fifth by Soccertimes.com and sixth by College Soccer News.

Maryland is ranked number-one by three of the four polls. The Terrapins are ranked number-one by the NSCAA and fourth by Soccer America. Maryland is ranked number-one by the College Soccer News and Soccertimes.com rankings.

This will mark a battle between two top-five teams at Historic Riggs Field. The last meeting between two top five teams at Historic Riggs Field occurred on December 6, 1998, when Indiana defeated the Tigers 2-1 in the NCAA Tournament’s Round of Eight. Clemson was ranked number one and Indiana was ranked second.

Clemson is led in scoring by Dane Richards with five goals and one assist for 11 points. Frederico Moojen has four goals and one assist for nine points. The Tigers are now 4-0 on the year and are off to their best start since the 1998 season.

This will be the 46th meeting between Clemson and Maryland on the soccer field. The Tigers lead the overall series 28-16-1. The Tigers are also 15-5-1 when playing Maryland at Clemson.

The Terrapins are led in scoring by Stephen King with four goals and four assists for 12 points. Graham Zusi has three goals for six points. The Terrapins are 4-0 on the year and are the defending National Champions.
