CLEMSON, SC – Clemson’s golf team is ranked third in the nation in the latest Mastercard poll. The poll is administered by the College Golf Foundation in cooperation with the Golf Coaches Association of america. This is the final ranking prior to the NCAA Tournament, which begins with regional play May 17.
Clemson was chosen to the East Regional at the Green Course at The Golden Horseshoe in Williamsburg, VA. The 54-hole event runs May 17-19. Clemson must finish in the top 10 at that event to qualify for the national tournament, which will be held May 30 to June 2 at the Duke University Course.
Clemson ranks third in the nation for the sixth straight week, trailing only Georgia and Georgia Tech. Arizona State is fourth, followed by Texas. Other ACC teams in the top 25 are NC State (8th), Wake Forest (10th), and Duke (20th).
Individually, Clemson senior John Engler has moved up to third in the individual rankings, his highest ranking of the season. He trails only Bryce Molder of Georgia Tech and Erik Compton of Georgia. Classmate Lucas Glover is ranked sixth in the nation, while sophomore D.J. Trahan is 24th.
