Clemson, S.C. – The Clemson women’s soccer team is prepared to take on the Vanderbilt Commodores in the first round of the 2019 NCAA Tournament. The match is set for Friday, Nov. 15 at 5 p.m. at Historic Riggs Field with live coverage on ACCNX. Tickets for the game are available through the Ticket Office or on game day at the gates.
Friday’s game will mark the fifth time in history that the teams match up, with the last match coming in 2006. Overall, Clemson holds the 3-0-1 record over the Commodores with two of its four matchups coming in the NCAA Tournament, both of which the Tigers won.
Additionally, the matchup will be Clemson’s 20th NCAA Tournament appearance and its sixth consecutive berth under ninth year head coach, Eddie Radwanski. With the Tigers earning the host site, it will also mark the fifth consecutive year of the Tigers playing the first round at Historic Riggs Field. At home this season, the Tigers hold an 8-1-1 record with its only home loss coming to the defending National Champion, Florida State.
This year the Tigers have boasted an 11-6-1 record with its last batch of action coming in the ACC Quarterfinals against the Seminoles. However, the Tigers had held a spot in the United Soccer Coaches top-25 polls for 10 consecutive weeks entering the NCAA Tournament.
On the opposing side, the Commodores hold a 14-5-1 record this season and are fresh off a 1-1 performance at the SEC Tournament. In conference action, the Commodores downed Alabama before losing to the eventual SEC Champions South Carolina. The Gamecocks lone loss of the year would come from the Tigers in a 1-0 victory at Historic Riggs Field.
