Tigers Ranked 14th in Latest ITA Poll

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson women’s tennis team was ranked 14^th in the latest International Tennis Association (ITA) poll released Tuesday.  Clemson was ranked 13^th in the initial preseason rankings released last week.

Nancy Harris’s team won flight championships in all four singles flights and all three doubles flights on Sunday in the two-day Duckworth Winter Classic held at the Clemson Indoor Tennis Center Jan. 17-18. For the tournament, Clemson players were 16-2 in singles play and 10-1 in doubles matches.

The Tigers return to action this weekend when they host the ITA Kickoff Weekend on Saturday, Jan. 24 and Sunday, Jan. 25. Clemson faces Winthrop on Saturday at 1 p.m., while Purdue, ranked 40th, and Washington, tied for 42nd in the polls, square off in the 9 a.m. match at the Clemson Indoor Tennis Center. On Sunday, the consolation match is set for 9 a.m., while Saturday’s two winners meet in the championship match at 1 p.m., with a berth in the ITA Team Indoor Championships in Charlottesville, Va. on Feb. 5-8 on the line.
