Tigers Ranked 14th in Latest ITA Poll

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson women’s tennis team was ranked 14th in the latest International Tennis Association (ITA) poll released Tuesday.  Clemson was ranked 13th in the initial preseason rankings released last week.

Nancy Harris’s team won flight championships in all four singles flights and all three doubles flights on Sunday in the two-day Duckworth Winter Classic held at the Clemson Indoor Tennis Center Jan. 17-18. For the tournament, Clemson players were 16-2 in singles play and 10-1 in doubles matches.

The Tigers return to action this weekend when they host the ITA Kickoff Weekend on Saturday, Jan. 24 and Sunday, Jan. 25. Clemson faces Winthrop on Saturday at 1 p.m., while Purdue, ranked 40th, and Washington, tied for 42nd in the polls, square off in the 9 a.m. match at the Clemson Indoor Tennis Center. On Sunday, the consolation match is set for 9 a.m., while Saturday’s two winners meet in the championship match at 1 p.m., with a berth in the ITA Team Indoor Championships in Charlottesville, Va. on Feb. 5-8 on the line.
