Tigers in the Pros: May 6-12

The Tigers’ presence was felt around the nation this week as nine former #ClemsonUnited players saw professional action over the weekend.

Major League Soccer (MLS)

Tommy McNamara (’13) subbed on in the 72nd  minute of the Houston Dynamo’s 1-0 loss to the Seattle Sounders on May 11.

Joe Bendik (’09) made his second start of the season in Columbus’s 3-0 loss to the Los Angeles Football Club on May 11. The keeper made five saves on eight shots faced.

Diego Campos (Chicago Fire) and Andrew Tarbell (San Jose Earthquakes) both served as reserve options over the weekend.

United Soccer League (USL)

Patrick Bunk-Andersen (’18) started on the backline for Toronto FC II, recording a goal in the 36th minute of the match. The defender totaled 90 minutes of action in the club’s 3-2 loss to South Georgia Tormenta FC on May 12.

Paul Clowes (’15) started for Greenville in the club’s 1-1 draw with Lansing Ignite FC on May 11. The 2015 Clemson graduate played all 90 minutes at midfield.

Amadou Dia (’14) started and played a full 90 minutes in Phoenix Rising FC’s 3-1 victory over Rio Grande Valley FC on May 10.

Phanuel Kavita (’14) played a full 90 minutes in his eighth start of the season in Saint Louis FC’s 0-0 draw with the Charleston Battery.

Jack Metcalf (’13) stared in Atlanta United 2’s 1-1 draw with Bethlehem Steel FC, playing all 90 minutes for Atlanta on May 12.

Cody Mizell (’12) totaled four saves on six shots faced in New Mexico United’s 2-2 draw with El Paso Locomotive FC on May 12. New Mexico United not shares the top spot in the league with Portland Timbers 2.

Kyle Murphy (’15) started in Loudoun United FC’s 3-1 win over the Charlotte Independence on May 11.
