Clemson Notes:

  • The Tigers are 8-6 on the season and 6-3 in ACC play, and are ranked 29th in the nation according to the ITA poll released on March 29.
  • Clemson is coming off a 6-1 loss to #22 Georgia Tech in Atlanta on March 25, followed by a 5-2 win over Louisville in Louisville, Ky. on March 27.
  • Freshman Ayan Broomfield is 9-5 in dual matches this season, and 7-3 since moving up to the No. 1 singles position on Feb. 20. Broomfield, currently ranked 52nd nationally, has four wins over nationally-ranked singles players, including her highest-ranked win over then-50th-ranked Paige Cline of South Carolina.
  • Clemson’s No. 3 doubles team of senior Joana Eidukonyte and sophomore Daniela Ruiz is 9-1 on the season, and 7-1 in ACC doubles matches, since being paired together for the first time this season on Feb. 14. 

Miami Notes:

  • Miami is 12-4 overall and 7-2 in the ACC, and is ranked seventh in the nation according to the ITA poll released earlier this week.
  • The Hurricanes will be the third top-10 ranked opponent the Tigers have faced this season, as they previously faced #2 Georgia on Jan. 30 and #3 Florida on Feb. 14. Clemson lost both of those matches 7-0 on the road. This will be the first top-10 opponent the Tigers have hosted this season.
  • The Hurricanes most recently defeated Virginia 5-2 on March 25 and Boston College 7-0 on March 27, both wins coming at home in Coral Gables, Fla.
  • The Hurricanes have a total of four nationally-ranked singles players, including two in the top six in the country, in Stephanie Wagner (fifth) and Sinead Lohan (sixth). Miami’s doubles team of Wagner and Wendy Zhang is also ranked in the top 10, at ninth in the nation.
  • Miami leads the series against the Tigers, which date back to 1982, with an all-time record of 27-4.
  • The most recent contest between the two teams was a 7-0 win for the Hurricanes in Coral Gables on March 1, 2015. The last time the teams met in Clemson, Miami won a 4-3 decision on April 13, 2014.
