Clemson Notes:

  • Clemson (3-7, 0-3) is coming off a 5-2 loss to No. 5 Georgia Tech on March 5. The Tigers won the doubles point and freshman Constanza Gorches won her match at No. 6 singles against the Yellow Jackets. Sophomores Ayan Broomfield and Marie-Alexandre Leduc picked up a big doubles upset against Georgia Tech, defeating seventh-ranked Rasheeda McAdoo and Johnnise Renaud, 6-4, at No. 1 doubles.
  • Clemson has faced three opponents ranked in the top six in the nation and four ranked in the top 25 so far this season. In addition to No. 5 Georgia Tech, the Tigers have also faced No. 3 North Carolina, No. 6 Georgia and No. 21 South Carolina.
  • Broomfield was named ACC Player of the Week on March 6, after recording the doubles upset against the Yellow Jackets and a singles upset over fourth-ranked Sara Daavettila of North Carolina on March 3.
  • Clemson’s 2017 roster is made up of one junior, five sophomores and two freshmen.
  • Head Coach Nancy Harris is in her 20th season with the Tigers. In her first 19 seasons at the helm of the program, Harris took the Tigers to the NCAA Tournament 17 times, including 15-consecutive years from 2002-16.

Series Information vs. Louisville:

  • The Tigers are Cardinals have met just twice previously in women’s tennis, in 2015 and 2016, with Clemson winning both matches.
  • Last season, Clemson defeated Louisville 5-2 on March 27, 2016 in Louisville. Broomfield, Fernanda Navarro and Daniela Ruiz won their singles matches against the Cardinals.

Series Information vs. Virginia Tech:

  • Clemson has an 18-4 all-time advantage in the series against Virginia Tech.
  • Last season, the Tigers won a 4-3 contest on Jan. 28, 2016 in Blacksburg, Va. Broomfield, Jenny Moinard and Ally Miller-Krasilnikov won singles matches against the Hokies that day.
  • Clemson and Virginia Tech met previously this season, on Jan. 28, 2017 at the ITA Kick-Off Weekend event in Nashville, Tenn. The Hokies won that contest, 4-2. Sydney Riley and Constanza Gorches were victorious in singles play in that match.
