CLEMSON, S.C. – The 21st-ranked Clemson women’s tennis team hosts Notre Dame on Friday, April 17 at 2:30 p.m. at the Hoke Sloan Tennis Center. The match will be Senior Day for Beatrice Gumulya, Romy Koelzer, Yuilynn Miao and Jessy Rompies, and is Clemson’s final home regular season match of the year. The Tigers are 14-8 on the season and 9-4 in ACC matches, and are coming off of a 6-1 win over Boston College at home on April 10. Joana Eidukonyte is the Tigers’ highest ranked singles player at No. 14. The junior from, Vilnius, Lithuania became Clemson first singles player to record 30 wins, sitting at 30-6 on the season and 11-2 in conference play. Koelzer is ranked 36th by the ITA, and is 18-9 overall and 9-3 in ACC matches. Gumulya is listed at 59th in singles, with a 25-8 record on the season and a 10-3 mark in the ACC. The doubles duo of Gumulya and Rompies remains third in the doubles poll. The pair is 26-4 on the season and 8-2 against conference foes.
Notre Dame is 14-7 overall and 8-4 in the conference entering the match. The Irish are coming off of a tough 5-2 loss to No. 17 Miami. Quinn Gleason, who plays in the top slot for the Irish, is 13-10 overall and 6-5 in ACC matches. The doubles team of Gleason and Monica Robinson is ranked 22nd. The duo is 21-7 on the season and 8-3 in conference play.
Notre Dame holds an 8-2 lead in the all-time series between the two programs, however Clemson has won the only match between the two teams since the Irish joined the ACC, which was a 5-2 victory for the then-15th-ranked Tigers in South Bend in 2014. Overall, the Tigers are 2-2 against the Irish in matches played in Clemson.
