Tigers Drop Match 4-1 to No. 1 Wake Forest

CLEMSON, S.C. – The Clemson Tigers (17-4, 6-3) recorded their first home loss of the season to the No. 1 Wake Forest Demon Deacons (27-0, 9-0) on Friday night at the Duckworth Family Tennis Facility.

The Tigers battled early in doubles but Wake Forest took the doubles point after securing two, 6-4 wins on courts one and two.

In singles, Clemson continued to fight as five out of the six matchups went into three sets. Senior Max Smith scored the first and only point for the Tigers in a 7-5, 7-5 win over Franco Capalbo. The win marks Smith’s 13th of the spring season and his 24th singles victory of the 2024-25 campaign.

Up next, the Tigers host No. 6 NC State and the College of Charleston on Sunday, March 30 for a doubleheader at the Duckworth Family Tennis Facility. The match over the Wolfpack is set for 12 p.m. ET and the match against the Cougars is slated for 5 p.m. ET.
