Tiger Tennis To Face First ACC Road Test This Weekend

CLEMSON, SC – Clemson’s eighth-ranked women’s tennis team will head north this weekend as the Tigers will face Boston College and Maryland on the road. Clemson will battle the Eagles at the Weymouth Club in Weymouth, MA, just south of Boston, at 7:00 pm on Friday night before traveling to College Park, MD to take on the Terps in an 11:00 am Sunday match-up.

Boston College owns a 4-5 record for the 2007 season, most recently defeating San Diego in Las Vegas, NV. Friday night’s match will be just the second meeting in history between the Eagles and Tigers, as Clemson defeated Boston College at home last season by a 5-2 margin.

Maryland enters the weekend with a 7-4 overall record and will face Georgia Tech on Friday afternoon before playing host to the Tigers. Clemson has dominated the series over the Terps, leading, 24-3, with an 8-2 record in matches played in College Park. Last season, the Tigers defeated Maryland, 5-2, at the Clemson Indoor Tennis Center.

Clemson freshman Ani Mijacika, the reigning ACC Player-of-the-Week will look to improve upon her 8-2 record during the dual season. She has won three consecutive matches and owns two upset-victories in 2007. The Makarska, Croatia native has also been successful in doubles action, teaming with Federica van Adrichem in the Tigers’ last four matches to defeat three ranked teams. The duo boasts a 7-2 overall record for the dual season.
