Tiger Student-Athletes Attend Personal Growth and Development Event

Tiger Student-Athletes Attend Personal Growth and Development Event

Nov. 3, 2009

The freshmen student-athletes ended their fall semester Personal Growth and Development (PGD) course with a Dining Etiquette and Professional Conduct Dinner conducted by Julie Newman and Brooke Buffington from the Michelin Career Center in McFadden Auditorium on Sunday evening, November 1. In addition to learning formal dining tips, the student-athletes also learned the art of handling introductions, shaking hands and making conversation.

The dinner also served as an opportunity to review highlights of the course in the form of a trivia competition, with the winning team (Table 5) earning an hour of study hall credit for their efforts! The PGD course is part of the Vickery Hall CHAMPS/Life Skills Program which targets the transitional needs of freshmen student-athletes. The weekly class topics include notebook and time management, health and wellness issues, career development and community service and leadership.
