KNOXVILLE, TN – The Clemson Diving program traveled to Tennessee’s Allan Jones Aquatic Center on Friday for the NCAA Zone B Diving event. The men competed in the one-meter event, while the women competed in the three-meter. David Giambra had the highest finish for the divers, narrowly missing a spot in the finals by only 10.75 points.

Giambra, the school record-holder in the one-meter, three meter, and platform events, put in a 279.45, which put him 22nd overall. He needed to finish 18th or better in order to earn a spot in the finals. Giambra will compete in the three-meter on Saturday and the platform on Sunday.

Ryan McDaniel, making his first career appearance at the Zone meet, scored a 229.15 to place 39th in the zone.

Three Lady Tigers competed in the three meter event on the first day, with freshman Stephanie Fura and freshman Cassie Self also posted solid efforts in the event, earning valuable experience at a very high level of competition.

The divers will return to action on Saturday as the men will try their hand in the three-meter and the women in the one meter. The student-athletes are trying to earn a spot in the NCAA Championships, which are held next week in College Station, TX.
