Three Tigers in top 10 at South Carolina Amateur

Clemson, S.C.—Clemson golfers Carson Young, Stephen Behr and Austin Langdale all rank in the top 10 after three rounds of the 84th Annual South Carolina Amateur at the Chanticleer Course at Greenville Country Club in Greenville, S.C.  The final round will be held Sunday.

Young stands in fifth place at three-under-par 213 for the first 54 holes, while Tiger teammate Stephen Behr is one shot back in sixth place at 214.  Austin Langdale is in eighth place at even par 216. 

The leader is Kennan Huskey of Greenville, who is 13-under-par 203 through three rounds.

Young fired a two-under-par 70 on Saturday after opening with a 75 and 68.  His day included four straight birdies on holes 2-5.  Behr had a 68 after opening with consecutive rounds of 73.  He shot a 33 on the back nine, including an eagle three on the 17th hole.  Langdale had a 73 after rounds of 73 and 70 to start the event.

The top Clemson golfer of the day was rising senior Blake Kennedy, who shot a five under par 67, the low round by any player in the field on Saturday.  He had five birdies and no bogeys on the par 72 course.  Kennedy is tie for 31st after three rounds. 

Among the players Kennedy is tied is Coleman Self, who will enter Clemson as a freshman in a few weeks.  Self has had rounds of 74-75-74.  Clemson rising sophomore Josh Fickes had a 73 on Saturday and stands in 49th place at 12 over par 228.

News
