GREENVILLE, S.C. — The second day of competition at the Debbie Southern Furman Fall Classic saw three Tigers win their singles matches and advance to the finals of their respective flights. Cristina Mayorova, Ali DeSpain and Daniella Medvedeva will will play Sunday morning at 9 a.m. for the title of their flight,
Mayorova, competing in Flight 5, won her semifinal match 7-6 (3), 6-1. She will take on Texas’s Fernanda Labrana, while Medvedeva and Despain, who won 6-2, 6-2 and 0-6, 6-4, 7-5, respectively will face ACC opponents in UNC’s Carson Tanguilig and Wake Forest’s Samatha Martinelli.
“I’m really proud of our teams effort today and the way they handled adversity,” raved Head Coach Christy Lynch. “Daniella had a very strong performance and it was nice to see Ali battle back against a tough opponent to win another third set match. We will look to finish the weekend strong tomorrow.”
