“Sunday is the New Friday Parade” to be Held September 2

Aug. 27, 2007

Central Spirit is happy to announce that Sunday will be the new Friday for Clemson University’s First Friday Parade this year. This year’s parade will be on Sunday, September 2 at 5:00 p.m. with a pep rally following the parade in Riggs Field prior to the men’s soccer game against Gardner-Webb.

Clemson University and community will celebrate the theme Reigning over the Sunshine State as our Tigers face off against Florida State University on Monday, September 3.

Jeff Davis, who is the Assistant Athletic Director of Major Events at Clemson University, will serve as this year’s Grand Marshall. Davis was an All-American linebacker for the Tigers from 1978-81, and he now serves as the primary spokesman for Clemson’s Call Me Mister Program at the University.

He will lead Miss First Friday, floats built by our sororities, numerous walkers and vehicles from the Cherry Road & Hwy 93 intersection (in front of President Barker’s House) to Hwy 93 & Williamson Road (Intramural Field). The Tiger Band, Clemson Cheerleaders, Rally Cats, the Tiger mascot, and many Clemson fans will then head to Riggs Field for the Pep Rally to get everyone excited for the new football season.

Admission to view the parade is free; come support your Clemson Tigers and line the parade route in orange!
