Stanley’s Stance No. 7

May 25, 2000

Journal Entry No. 7 May 25, 2000 – Clemson, S.C.

Well Tiger Fans, lets talk baseball. It is a great honor for the school and the program to be awarded a regional site for the NCAA Tournament. This accomplishment says a great deal for the fan support of Clemson baseball, and for the school in general. It will be a great weekend of baseball, as Middle Tennessee, Illinois, Old Dominion, and your Clemson Tigers prepare to do battle, for the right to advance to a Super Regional. The weekend will be packed with baseball, as the tournament starts tonight with the tournament banquet in Littlejohn Coliseum.

The week was good, as the team worked hard on fundamentals and preparation for the weekend. It feels good to be back in South Carolina, after a week and a half on the road. We look forward to playing tomorrow against a very strong and experienced Middle Tennessee team.

I actually have previously played with two of their players, and been coached by one of their assistants, Jeff Parsons was my roommate my freshman year at Clemson, and actually pitched a great deal that year before deciding to transfer. It will be interesting if he pitches tomorrow. Ryan Mottl was one of my roommates as well, so it will be very interesting, if the two pitch against each other. I played with Dewon Brazelton last summer in the Cape, and he could possibly pitch tomorrow as well. Their pitching coach, Mike McLaury was the pitching coach for my summer team last year also.

It will be fun to see some old faces, but once we take the field it will be strictly business. See ya’ll tomorrow. The team will need all your support! Go Tigers!
