Benton Harbor, MI – Clemson sophomore Kyle Stanley reached the quarterfinals of the Western Amateur on Saturday before losing to Alex Prugh, 2 and 1. The Western Amateur is played at the Point O’Woods Golf Club in Benton Harbor, MI. The event features a 72-hole stroke play qualifier for 16 spots in a match play final.
Stanley shot a 72-hole total of 277 in the stroke play portion of the event and finished tied for eighth.. In the first round of match play on Saturday morning he defeated University of Florida All-American Billy Horschel in 19 holes. He then lost to Prugh, a member of the University of Washington golf team and a native of Spokane, WA in the afternoon.
Stanley has already qualified for the United States Amateur and will take part in that tournament at the Olympic Club in San Francisco, CA, August 20-26
