Jon Allen

Position: Senior Associate AD / Facilities & Event Management

Jon Allen is in his sixth year at Clemson as the Senior Associate AD of Game Experience. Allen joined Clemson in the spring of 2015, and oversees all aspects of event operations at Clemson’s athletic facilities. Chief among responsibilities, Allen directs football gameday operations, which includes the coordination of more than 1,000 people at Memorial Stadium. He also added responsibilities as a sport administrator, where he works with several programs in a leadership role.

Allen has overseen significant updates to all areas of event operations, helps develop policy at new and existing facilities, while also serving in an advisory role on campus. Allen has led several measures to improve the safety of Memorial Stadium, including the Clear Bag Policy and the implementation of metal detectors at all gates. Allen’s focus on efficiency and customer service has made Clemson a leader in the event operations area, which includes security, logistics, collaboration with police and stadium access.

Allen came to Clemson as an accomplished event administrator for seven years at both LSU and the University of Oklahoma. Allen took over the position from longtime administrator Van Hilderbrand, who retired in May 2015.

Allen spent three years as an Assistant Director of Game & Event Management at LSU. He managed men’s basketball, gymnastics and women’s soccer events, while also serving as the visiting team coordinator for LSU’s nationally-prominent football program. He was the liaison for several external groups, and also assisted in the hiring, training and scheduling of more than 500 event staff employees.

Prior to his most recent stint at LSU, Allen was the Assistant Director of Event Operations in Norman, Okla., from 2009-12. He served as the department liaison to all outsourced event staff groups, while also serving as event manager for the Sooners’ baseball, women’s soccer, track & field, rowing and wrestling programs.

Allen, first an intern and full-time assistant with LSU’s game & event management staff from 2008-09, earned his bachelor’s degree from the school in 2005. He earned a master’s degree in sport management from Florida in 2008.

He and his wife Erin have two children, Sam and Audry.
