The Solid Orange Squad held the organization’s semester meeting on Sunday, September 5. Forty of SOS’s most dedicated members showed up to discuss goals for SOS in the fall and spring and new ideas for service. Among the items discussed were member recruitment, new ideas for Be a T.I.G.E.R.! assemblies and an SOS video.
Currently SOS has recruited approximately seventy new members and has increased its roster to just over 200 student-athletes. Roughly 40% of all Clemson student-athletes participate in the organization.
At the meeting, members were asked to volunteer to be committee chairs for programs such as the Be a T.I.G.E.R.! Email buddy program (TIGER Talk), the Be a T.I.G.E.R.! Field Day, and the newly developed T.I.G.E.R. Reads video book club. Those leaders are Kelly Fowler, Meredith Davidson and Victoria Graham respectively.
The meeting concluded with the presentation of awards to the 2009-2010 SOS team with the most community service, and a group picture of the SOS members in attendance.
Upcoming events for the Solid Orange Squad include trips to the Boiling Springs High School media day on September 21, and the Landrum United Methodist Church on October 1 to speak on the importance of staying focused in high school, staying motivated to do your best and how faith plays a roll in success.
