Clemson, S.C. – Clemson women’s soccer senior midfielder Mackenzie Smith was named to the Academic All-America Second Team, announced by CoSIDA on Thursday. It marks the first All-America recognition for the Bath, N.Y. native after earning her first Academic All-District nod early last month.
Including Smith, twenty five of the 33 members of the Academic All-America Division I women’s soccer teams sport a perfect 4.0 GPA. As a whole, the complete 33-member women’s team averages a 3.96 GPA.
On the field, her three goals and three assists during her senior campaign led Smith to a career-high year while ranking fourth on the team for scoring. However, some of Smith’s greatest successes with the Tigers came in the classroom as she completed her Sports Communication degree in two and a half years and is set to graduate in May 2020 with a Master’s in Communication, Technology and Society.
