Six Earn Academic All-ACC Honors, Ties Program-High

Clemson, S.C. – Six members of the Clemson women’s soccer team were named to the Academic All-ACC list, announced by the conference on Tuesday morning. The six honorees ties the program-high for a single season which was set back in 2016.

Renee Guion So., Hal Hershfelt Fr., Sandy MacIver Sr., Julie Mackin Sr., Maliah Morris Fr. and Mackenzie Smith Sr. earned the recognition after a standout season in the classroom and on the field. 

Out of the five recognized field players they accounted for 14 of the team’s 33 goals on the season while MacIver recorded four shutouts, 49 saves and added her first career assist. Hershfelt and Morris picked up post-season honors by being named to the ACC All-Freshman Team with Hershfelt also being honored on the United Soccer Coaches All Atlantic Region, Third Team. 

In the classroom, Mackin and Smith earned CoSIDA Academic All-District nods while Smith went on to earn the coveted Academic All-America honors. Smith became just the fourth in program history to earn the award with Emily Byorth being recognized in both 2015 and 2016.
