Several Tigers still Alive at Riviera/ITA All-American Championships

PACIFIC PALISADES, CA – Four Tigers are still active at the Riviera/ITA All-American Championships at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, CA. Josipa Bek opens Main Draw singles play on Thursday, but the doubles play of sophomores Monika Kochanova and Klara Vyskocilova has been one of the major stories of the tournament thus far.

Entered into the Pre-Qualifying (PQ) doubles draw, the Tiger duo won three matches, including knocking off the top PQ seed from Texas, 8-1, to earn a spot in the qualifying draw (Q). On Tuesday, they knocked off 26^th-ranked and seventh-seeded Caroline Hitmana and Alex Cercone of Florida, 8-4 to advance to the second round, where they play on Thursday against 35^th ranked Weinstein and Geibert of Nebraska.

Should they win, they would play one more match for the right to enter the main draw on Thursday, where they would again be re-seeded and put in the Main Draw, which opens Thursday evening.

Josipa Bek and Keri Wong, ranked No. 1 in the nation are already in the Main Draw, earning an automatic bid. The Tigers have a first round bye, entering them automatically into the round of 16. The Tiger tandem reached the finals of the event a season ago.

Bek also opens play in the singles Main Draw, where the 8^th-seeded Bek will play Ariel Ellis of Texas.

Wong is still alive in singles play as well. After falling to No. 45 Pamela Montez of UCLA on her home court, Wong bounced back to defeat Hanna Mar of Duke, 6-3, 6-2, in the Qualifying Back Draw. She takes on No. 62 Brooke Bolender of Michigan in the second round.
