GREENVILLE, SC – Clemson’s ninth-ranked doubles team of Carol Salge and Federica van Adrichem captured the flight one doubles title at the Furman Fall Classic in Greenville, SC on Saturday. The duo won an 8-4 decision over South Carolina’s team of Gira Schofield and Natasa Vuckovic in the final match.
In the flight three doubles bracket, the Tiger tandem of Selma Babic and Ina Hadziselimovic finished fifth after defeating Nusslock and Tuttle of Wisconsin, 8-4.
Two Clemson singles players posted victories on Saturday as well, while Ani Mijacika advanced to the fifth-place match-up at flight one after her opponent suffered an injury. At flight three, Kathi Gerber defeated the Badgers’ Chelsea Nusslock, 6-3, 7-6 (5), while Hadziselimovic won a 6-3, 6-3 decision over Kim Roberts of Wisconsin in the flight five bracket.
Selma Babic suffered a 6-2, 6-4 loss to Vanderbilt’s Catherine Newman in the flight four semifinals.
Mijacika will face Furman’s Laura Gioia on Sunday while Luc will take on Lauren Holzberg of Penn State. Those two contests, along with Gerber’s match against Wisconsin’s Liz Carpenter, are scheduled to begin at 9:00 am. Babic will play South Carolina’s Christyn Lucas for third-place at 10:00 am, while Hadziselimovic will face Natasa Manojlovic of Furman at 10:30 am.
