Clemson, SC – Clemson’s rowing schedule for the 2009-10 season was announced on Monday by Head Coach Richard Ruggieri. The Tigers will host five regattas this spring, including the ACC Championships.
Clemson will compete in two head races this fall, including the Head of the Broad and the Head of the Hooch. This marks the first time the Tigers will compete in the Head of the Broad, which will be held in Columbia, SC on October 3. Clemson concludes its fall racing at the Head of the Hooch on November 7-8, where four Tiger boats finished first last season.
The Tigers will open the spring season with a home regatta on March 6, 2010. Clemson will host regattas the following three weekends, including races against Boston University, Alabama, Indiana, Purdue, Marist and Cornell.
Clemson will travel to Virginia on April 3 to take part in the ACC & Big 10 Challenge. The following weekend, the team will travel to Los Angeles, CA to race against UCLA and Southern California.
After traveling to Oak Ridge, Tennessee last year for the ACC Championships, the conference regatta will return to Lake Hartwell for the eighth time. Clemson looks to win its second consecutive ACC Championship after defeating Virginia for the first time in history to win the league crown last year.
The Tigers will again travel to Oak Ridge, Tennessee to compete in the Aramark South/Central Sprints on May 15-16. Last season, Clemson finished second in the South region and sixth overall.
Clemson hopes to earn their second team bid to the NCAA Rowing Championships, which will be held in Sacramento, CA on May 28-30.
