Rompies and Gumulya Advance to Quarterfinals in N.Y.

CLEMSON, S.C. – Beatrice Gumulya and Jessy Rompies have advanced to the quarterfinals at the 2014 USTA/ITA National Indoor Intercollegiate Doubles Championships. The Tiger duo defeated Jiang/Leung of Columbia University in a tightly contested match, winning 3-6, 7-6(6),12-10 in the round of 16. The duo from Columbia was ranked 19th in thr ITA preseason rankings. Gumulya/ Rompies, ranked eighth nationally, are the number one seed in the tournament and received a bye in the first round.
