Clemson’s 16-point victory margin this evening was the largestfor the Tigers since a 17-point victory (59-42) over the Pack in1999-00 season. Clemson upset a 21st ranked NC State team thatnight. That was also the last time NC State scored fewer than 54points against Clemson. Clemson has now won two in a row over NCState, the first time Clemson has won back to back games from theWolfpack since winning three in a row between 1999-00 and the firstmeeting in 2000-01. If Clemson can win at Duke on Saturday it wouldgive Clemson consecutive wins over teams from the North CarolinaTriangle for the first time since Feb. 24-28 when it defeated NorthCarolina and Duke in consecutive games on the way to winning theACC regular season championship. Clemson held NC State front lineplayers J.J. Hickson, Brandon Costner and Ben McCauley to 10 totalpoints tonight. They came into the game averaging 35 points pergame. Costner had a season low zero points and Hickson had a seasonlow tying four points. Terrence Oglesby made 4-8 three-point shotsin tonight’s game and now has made 10 three-point goals over thelast two games. He leads the ACC in made three-point goals pergame. Oglesby had struggled at home in terms of three-pointshooting until the last two games. He had made just 11-43 at homeover the first nine home games. He has now made 10 of 18 over thelast two home games. oOglesby has made 46 three-point goals thisyear, already the fourth most by a freshman in Clemson history. Therecord is 75 by Tony Stockman in 2000-01. Trevor Booker madeanother three-point goal this evening, his third straight game witha made three-pointer. He did not make a three-point goal in any ofhis first 50 games at Clemson and has now made at least one inthree straight. Booker was 6-10 from the field tonight and is now26 for his last 36 from the field over three games. Clemson had 21assists and just 10 turnovers tonight. It is the bestassist/turnover ratio in a game by the Tigers this year. Clemsonentered he game ranked in the top 15 in the nation in both blockedshots and steals, joining Kansas as the only two teams in thenation in top 20 of both categories. Clemson did nothing to hurtthose stats tonight with seven blocks and 13 steals. Clemsonoutscored NC State by 30-15 in terms of points off three-pointshooting tonight. Over the last nine games against NC State, theWolfpack had outscored Clemson by an average of 21 points per gameon three-point shots. Clemson had as many steals as fouls thisevening, 13 of each. Cliff Hammonds had three steals tonight tomove ahead of Terrell McIntyre into second place on Clemson’scareer steals list. He now has 195 for his career, one more thanMcIntyre. Hammonds needs just five steals to become the firstplayer in Clemson history with at least 1200 points, 400 rebounds,400 assists and 200 steals. Edward Scott is the only other playerwith 1200 points, 400 rebounds and 400 assists. K.C. Rivers needsjust eight points at Duke to reach 1000 for his career. He had 11points tonight and now has 992 points for his career.
