North Carolina defeats Clemson 2-0 in ACC Tournament Semifinals

CLEMSON, SC–Ben Hunter scored two goals in leading North Carolina to a 2-0 win over Clemson in the semifinals of the 19th Annual Atlantic Coast Conference Men’s Soccer Tournament at Cary, NC Friday night.

North Carolina improves to 15-3-2 overall, while Clemson falls to 11-5-3 this season. The Tar Heels were the sixth-seeded team and Clemson was the seventh-seeded squad. The loss snapped an eight-match unbeaten streak by the Tigers.

Hunter scored first at the 54:37 mark. He sent a 12-yard shot in the upper left corner of the goal.

Hunter scored again at the 72:22 point in the match. Hunter was assisted by Scott Campbell on the play. It was Hunter’s ninth goal of the season.

Clemson will await word on a NCAA Tournament Bid on Monday.
